BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE


Elliot joined Acuity as a Vice President in 2022 and brings a diverse background of global and boutique M&A experience. He started his M&A career in 2014 at Standard Chartered, where he learned to service clients’ needs across a variety of sector-agnostic, cross-border transactions that spanned from growth investments to billion dollar transactions. He later specialised in the Consumer and Technology sectors across several boutiques, and has focused on both sell-side and buy-side transactions across tech sub-verticals including Deep Tech, Infratech, Supply Chain Logistics, Food Tech, and more. Elliot takes pleasure in staying on top of what he calls the “technological frontier” – learning every day about new tech companies that aim to transform the world with unique value propositions – and working with businesses to help develop their core value proposition and unlocking unrealised or unforeseen value.

Elliot holds a Masters in Finance with Distinction from University of Bradford UK, is from Brooklyn NY by birth, and has resided in the UK, where he now calls home, since 2008.

JAMES SMITH

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE


James joined Acuity as Vice President in 2021, and is a member of the Deep Tech team.

James has a decade of experience advising entrepreneurs, founders and management teams on the next steps in their life cycles. He has significant transaction experience across debt and equity fundraising, sell-side, buy-side, MBOs, SPACs and EOTs. He has a particular skill in identifying and presenting a business’ key drivers and USPs to interested parties.

He has managed many cross border transactions working across the UK, European, US and Australasian markets.

James qualified as a chartered accountant in Manchester, and worked in Sydney, Australia for three years before moving back to the UK. James holds a BA in Ancient History from the University of Manchester.

Stefan joined Acuity Advisors as an Associate in November 2021, bringing three years of M&A experience from Ciesco. He has worked directly with senior stakeholders across a variety of sectors, with a focus most recently on SaaS, data analytics and marketing services. Stefan holds a Masters in Finance and Private Equity from the London School of Economics and currently also studies to become a CFA charterholder.

Naomi joined Acuity as an Associate in 2021, bringing 4 years’ M&A experience from Waypoint Partners. She has worked with entrepreneurs and founders in the TMT sector, with a focus on deeptech currently. Naomi holds a Master’s in Finance and Accounting from Imperial College Business School.

Having spent the last 10 years playing international hockey, representing both Great Britain and England, she is now looking to develop her research and business skills while working at Acuity. Susie completed her degree at the University of Birmingham achieving a 1st Class honours in Geography.

JAMES CULL

James joined Acuity as an Associate in 2021, bringing the best part of three years’ TMT-focused M&A experience, notably from his role at Equiteq. He also has a wealth of experience in private equity, spending four of his seven years at KPMG in the Private Equity Group working across the Transaction Services and Audit teams.

James has been involved in buy-side, sell-side and fundraising projects touching many corners of the technology sector, including cloud computing, cyber security, data analytics, ecommerce, manufacturing technology, martech and the broader software industry.

He is a qualified Charted Accountant and holds a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney.

David joined Acuity as Vice President in 2017, bringing over eight years’ experience across M&A advisory and corporate development and an advisory focus on selling and acquiring entrepreneurial businesses. He moved into corporate finance after studying Economics at the University of East Anglia.

David has significant experience in enterprise software, vehicle telematics, digital media and related technologies. His experience of advising entrepreneurs on the sell-side and as a corporate acquirer on the buy-side gives him a strong understanding of the M&A process from both perspectives, invaluable in navigating the challenges and complexities of many M&A transactions.
