01 June 2022, Edinburgh, Scotland: Codeplay Software, a global leader in cross-architecture open standards-based developer technologies announces its sale to Intel.

Led by CEO Andrew Richards, Codeplay is globally recognized for its expertise and leadership in SYCL, the Khronos open standard programming models used in oneAPI, and its significant contributions to the industry ranging from open ecosystem activities like SYCL and OpenCL to RISC-V, automotive software safety, and medical imaging. Codeplay has extensively delivered products supporting diverse hardware platforms worldwide, embracing the mission of bringing oneAPI to the masses.

By leveraging Codeplay’s capability and technology, Intel will be able to provide developers with a streamlined development process, improved performance and scalability, and an enhanced user experience. “We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Intel,” said Andrew Richards. “This acquisition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and will allow us to continue to provide the best tools and solutions to our customers. It’s experience that has given him a robust, well-developed and international network. Having also run and successfully exited his own business, Matthew has a deep understanding of the financial and emotional aspects of this demanding process, bringing a unique and authoritative perspective to each business sale.
