Digitisation and automation of the physical world

Industrial technology sits at the intersection of software, hardware and physical systems. Driven by productivity pressures, labour constraints and the push towards smarter, more sustainable operations, industrial tech businesses are transforming how goods are designed, manufactured and maintained.

We advise companies applying technology to real-world environments – where execution, reliability and scalability matter as much as innovation.

Our expertise

Our team understands both the engineering realities and the strategic drivers of value in industrial technology markets. We support businesses through growth, investment and M&A, helping position differentiated capabilities and connect with buyers and investors who understand operational complexity and long-term industrial cycles.

Owen Pethica

Director

Owen leads Acuity’s Industrial Technology practice, advising founders, management teams and investors on company sales, buy-side mandates and growth capital raises across industrial technology, semiconductors & hardware, automation and industrial software.

Owen joined Acuity in 2022 from Miles Advisory Partners, following several years in corporate finance working on mid-market transactions across Europe and Asia-Pacific. He has since worked with clients throughout the UK, the Nordics and continental Europe, and with acquirers across the globe.

Owen is comfortable moving between the engineering detail of a product and the commercial case behind it. Much of his work involves setting out why a business matters to a specific acquirer, drawing on the technology, the installed base and the customer relationships to build a case that goes beyond the financial profile. He understands how strategic buyers assess fit against their own product portfolios, channels and end markets, and builds the case for a deal accordingly.

He works closely with management through what can be an unfamiliar and demanding process, and stays in the detail from preparation through to completion.

Owen qualified as a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

“Acuity’s sector knowledge, and hands-on approach were pivotal in securing an outstanding result. The team expertly navigated every stage of the process, offering timely advice, managing complex negotiations, and keeping the project on track from start to finish. Their professionalism and dedication made them an invaluable partner and ensured an excellent outcome for the shareholders and company alike.”
