Independent corporate finance boutique Acuity Advisors, has secured the sale of Light Blue Optics Limited’s Interactive Touch and Pen Technology to Promethean World plc. The acquisition includes the intellectual property rights for the technology and key members of Light Blue Optics’ engineering team.
Light Blue Optics (LBO) was spun-out of the University of Cambridge in 2004 and has pioneered the development of highly advanced user-interface technology for use in high-volume applications. In particular, LBO’s Interactive Touch and Pen Technology combines high performance with the most advanced user experience across all key requirements with the lowest cost.
The new interactive technology will enhance further students’ and teachers’ experience with their Promethean classroom display for a seamless, engaging learning environment. Interactive classroom interfaces that simultaneously recognise multiple user inputs can unlock new opportunities for collaborative learning. Excellent collaboration and interpersonal communication skills continue to rise to the top of the list as qualities employers identify as core skills to make students career-ready.
Light Blue Optics is based in Cambridge, U.K., with a second office in the Bay Area, California, USA and employs 20 staff. LBO has been supported by leading venture capital firms including Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH, Draper Esprit, Capital-E and Earlybird Venture Capital.
